Developing Restorative Practice – Next Steps
The Leeds Relational Practice Centre is hosting a one-day virtual conference on Wednesday 10th March 2021 exploring the power of restorative and relationship-based practice to affect positive outcomes in Children’s Services. The conference will include the following sessions:
Restorative Culture and Leadership
Saleem Tariq OBE, Director of Children and Families, Leeds City Council
This session will reflect on the importance of leadership in establishing the right culture for restorative practice to flourish; including the work that senior leaders need to do to examine their own behaviour and the structures and processes within their organisation.
Restorative Approaches to Domestic Abuse
Gail Faulkner, Strengthening Families Protecting Children Consultant
This session will give an overview of work to explore traditional social work approaches to domestic abuse and violence, and explain how restorative approaches have been effectively adopted, building on those already established and embedded in Leeds.
Building Restorative Services and Approaches
David Gammage, Service Delivery Manager, Emma Ross, Multi Systemic Therapy Programme Manager and Josie Warwick, Customer Relations Lead – Leeds City Council
This session will consider how the embedding of restorative principles and values across Leeds supported the development of new approaches to their work; in relation to child protection conferences, intensive family support services and compliments and complaints.
